Intro

What this course covers and how to move through it.

This course teaches you how to think about risk in digital assets. You can’t really understand the risk of something until you understand what it is and what it’s trying to achieve. So we build the foundation first, then add risk on top, in four parts that are best taken in order:

  • Core concepts: what blockchains, tokens, smart contracts and tokenization are, how they work, and why they matter.
  • Real-world assets: how deposits, funds, Treasuries, loans and stocks are being turned into tokens, and what that changes for banks, investors and the public.
  • Risk basics: what risk is and how to manage it, using everyday examples that have nothing to do with finance.
  • Digital asset risk: bringing it all together, with a worked example and an exercise.

You won’t finish this course with a list of every risk in digital assets. No such list exists, because the risk depends on who you are and what you’re doing. Instead, you’ll learn a way of thinking and the questions to ask, so you can work out what the risks are for you.
